Kenya Rapid Deployment Capability is a special military unit of the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) formed under the special approval of the Chief of Defense Forces (Kenya) to respond to both National and Pan-African crises and provide a capability that AU may demand. KRDC therefore provides early and timely intervention during a crisis with an aim to avert violent conflicts and/or atrocities and to stabilize the situation, and/or render emergency assistance in cases of natural or human disasters. KRDC is part of the East African regional RDC readiness cycle under the EASF and is a National Standing Force held at standby to the Region. KRDC has its primary mandate domiciled within the East African Countries and collaborates with RDC Uganda and Tanzania. The capabilities are maintained at specified levels of readiness to cope with the demand of scenario six.
